LONDON – In a bizarre incident, a date between two NRIs in Britain ended into a complete disaster landing the man in jail and then in court.
IT engineer Kishore Nimmala (32) met Fakhara Sultana on a dating website and decided to meet at the Ruby Blue bar in London’s Leicester Square on February 15.
The evening proceeded well till the bill for the initial round of drinks arrived at 11.30 pm. Nimmala paid for it and expected Sultana to pay for the next round of drinks. But she wasn’t carrying any money expecting Nimmala to pay and decided to leave.
Upset, Nimmala followed her and snatched her phone to get her attention. She called the police and he was arrested.
The case came up this week in court where Nimmala was acquitted. He now has a £1,200 legal bill to pay.
Nimmala said he only grabbed her phone to get her “attention” because she became hysterical. He says he is happy to have been let off.
“I have been struggling mentally for the past seven months. I could have lost everything if I was convicted. I never want to go on a date again,” Nimmala said.
