BATALA – The Batala police have arrested a man of Kiri Afghana village for killing his daughter on October 2 last year. He allegedly threw his daughter Paramjit Kaur (24) into the Beas near Bhet Pattan village for marrying against the wishes of the family.
Batala SSP Inderbir Singh said girl’s Lakhwinder Singh was arrested while he was trying to flee the village. The girl was reportedly in love with a boy of the same village. Her family was against it as the boy was of different caste. The girl’s body was fished out from the Beas. A case was registered against her father and some other members of the family. All other accused were arrested, but Lakhwinder had been evading arrest.
