FAZILKA – With the arrest of three thieves, the Jalalabad police of Fazilka district claimed to have busted a gang of motorcycle thieves . Those arrested are Harjit Singh alias Sonu of Mohar Khiva village, Amarjit Singh alias Raju and Kala Singh of Nawan Salemshah village. They have been booked under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC.
The police have recovered 12 motorcycles from their possession.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Jalalabad, Harjinder Singh Gill said the police party during a naka intercepted two persons riding a bike near Murkwala village. The persons failed to produce valid documents of the motorcycle. During the interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted that they had stolen motorcycles from Fazilka, Jalalabad and Abohar subdivisions in the last few months.
The DSP said the accused used to sell motorcycles by preparing fake affidavits. Gill further said Gurpreet Singh of Nawan Salemshah village, who came to know about the misdeeds of the accused, was allegedly thrown into Gang Canal near Kamalwala village by them some time ago but he managed to escape. Harjit Singh and Amarjit Singh were booked under Sections 307 of the IPC by Arniwala police of the district.
