AMRITSAR: India’s Customs Department seized 10 kilograms of heroin from a Pakistan cargo train at the Attari Railway station. The drugs were concealed in a sealed cargo department amidst cement bags.

It appears that this particular train has transported heroin in a similar fashion prior to this week’s bust. Recently 105 kilograms and later seven kilograms were seized. Cargo trains are a major channel for drug smugglers to transport heroin from Pakistan to India.

Customs had nearly cleared the train for off-loading when during the search a mysterious bag found near the cement bags raised suspicion amongst officials. Upon further examination the narcotics were discovered.

Officials will now investigate the origins and ownership of the cargo consignment.
