Actor Akshay Kumar, whowould be taking forward thecharacter of Shoaib Khan in’Once Upon A Time inMumbaai Again’, insists he doesnot think of setting a benchmark.
Shoaib was played by EmraanHashmi in movie’s prequel andthe portrayal had garnered lot ofappreciation from all the quarters.”I am just playing my role. Ihave not thought of it as abenchmark. I just followed mydirector, as he is the captain ofthe ship. I never thought that Ihad to cross any benchmark,”Akshay told reporters whenasked if he would try to crossthe benchmark set by Emraan inthe original film.
The trailer of ‘Once Upon ATime in Mumbaai Again’,launched last night, opens with aswanky cricket stadium, twocaptains dressed in blue andgreen blazers ready to flip thecoin. And then, the don (AkshayKumar) walks in style. As heenters the stadium and raises hisarms, the crowd cheers aloud.The trailer gave the impressionof two worlds – cricket andunderworld – coming together.
However, Akshay cleared the airsaying, “It is just the characterand situation in the film that Iam playing. People should notconnect it with anything.”When asked about the arrest ofhis good friend Vindoo DaraSingh in connection with hisalleged involvement in IPL bettingscandal, Akshay said, “I willtalk about IPL (controversy) andmy friend later.
“Milan Luthria directed ‘OnceUpon A Time In MumbaaiAgain’ is a gangster-romanticfilm starring Akshay, ImranKhan and Sonakshi Sinha in thelead. The film is set to releasethis Eid (August 8).
