India Cancels Military General’s Visit To Israel

India is also realizing some bitter realities, foremost in that India needs Iran more than Iran needs India, because more than 10% of India’s oil comes from Iran. Iran can easily find buyers for its oil, but India may find it difficult to find a replacement for its oil supply.

By Dr. Sawraj Singh

India is furthering the distance between itself and America and Israel on the issue of Iran. General V.K. Singh, India’s Commander-in-Chief, will not be visiting Israel as planned. India had already decided not to risk its oil supply from Iran, and rebuffed America when the latter tried to pressure it to sever economic relations with Iran.

India is realizing some bitter realities:

•         India needs Iran more than Iran needs India, because more than 10% of India’s oil comes from Iran. Iran can easily find buyers for its oil, but India may find it difficult to find a replacement for its oil supply.

•         America will be unable to match the military power of the alliance of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.

•         The plot to assassinate Putin shows the complete desperation of America and Israel. Russia is not a third-world country, and Putin, more than anybody else, knows the workings of the secret and intelligence agencies. This plot will only strengthen Putin’s position, and weaken the opposition; whom he accuses of being the West’s agents and traitors. Putin is assured of a comfortable victory in the Presidential elections, and will go after America and Israel with more zest and gusto.

•         America is facing a miserable and humiliating defeat in Afghanistan, with no chance of a respectable pull-out. The burning of the Holy Koran has made any compromise with the Taliban almost impossible.

•         The increased violence in Iraq shows the complete failure of America to control Iraq.

•         In Pakistan, the American support for the self-determination of Baluchistan has infuriated the people.

•         The American policy of widening the division between the Sunnis and the Shias has run into difficulty, after the Sunni Muslims in Afghanistan have become irate over the burning of the Holy Koran, and the Sunni majority in Pakistan is very angry with American support for Baluchistan. They understand now, that America wants to weaken both the Shias and the Sunnis. Opposition to Islam is deeply entrenched in the American policies, as well as the policies of its allies.

•         The Muslim struggles will eventually weaken America, Israel and the other American allies. India does not want to be one of those countries which come in the way of Islam.

The American policy of making India a scapegoat for its confrontation with China, Russia and Islam is being better understood by India. Not only India can suffer economically, but it can also become the arena for the Third World War, with its devastating effects. India also understands that the world is big enough for both India and China to grow and prosper. India needs to maintain good relations with China, Russia, and the Muslim countries to continue its progress and growth.

India and Iran always had very close relations. They are descendants of the same Indo-European race. They share the ancient Gods, like Mitra in India, and Mitrashu in Iran. The Indian and Iranian histories have been interwoven. The two most important Indian queens, Noor Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, both were of Iranian origin. The Persian language has been very popular in India, and was the state language during the reigns of several Indian rulers, including the Mughals and Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, was a great scholar and poet, fluent in Persian. His famous work, Zafarnama (Letter of Victory) is in Persian.

India’s objective interests are identical with Asia and the third world. The people of Asia and the third world cannot get a fair treatment, and their proper place in the present western-dominated, unipolar world. They can only get a respectable and deserving status in a multipolar world order. Both India and Iran are Asian countries, belonging to the Third World. They are neighbors who have deep historical, cultural, and economic bonds. Together, they should work to change the present unipolar world to a multipolar world.
