Indo-Canadians Among New And Returning KPU Board of Governors

SURREY  – Indo-Canadian technology student and an accountant are among Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) new and returning member of their Board of Governors, which welcomed six new board members this fall.

Harpreet Bhatti – owner of Harpreet Bhatti & Co., a Surrey-based accounting firm is among the returning six members.

Bhatti currently serves on the board of the Certified General Accountants of B.C. Surrey/Delta/Langley chapter, is the Surrey Crime Prevention Society’s Treasurer and was appointed to the board in August 2013.

Two re-appointed board members and one re-elected member will also remain on the board.

Third-year information technology student Upinder Chahal was also elected to serve on the board until Aug. 31, 2015. An international student studying at KPU, Chahal is currently completing his co-op term as a support analyst with Sierra Wireless.

The KPU Board of Governors is empowered by the University Act of British Columbia. The management, administration and control of the property, revenue, business and affairs of the university are vested in the board.
