SURREY – The Surrey RCMP are continuing their searching for an Indo-Canadian man who has been missing for 17 days now.

Mandeep Singh Bal, 24, was last seen walking north along the east side of King George Boulevard at 102nd Avenue at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 30th. Police said he is known to have problems with alcohol and may be suicidal.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger said investigators want to speak with a man who found Bal’s cell phone and returned it to his family a few days after Bal had gone missing.

“We need to talk with him,” Grainger said.

The man hadn’t given his name to the missing man’s family.

Bal had left a relative’s house in the 8900-block of Crichton Drive at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 30th after getting into an argument with a family member.

He is five feet 11 inches tall, about 150 pounds and has brown eyes, black wavy hair and a goatee and beard. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with white lines on top, a brown jacket with a dark brown square pattern on it, blue track pants, and blue sandals with orange straps.

Police have released video surveillance footage of Bal buying beer at a liquor store in the 8500-block of 132nd Street at about 10 p.m. on Oct. 29th, several hours before he was last seen.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP Missing Persons Unit at 604-599-0502.
