Punjab Sikh Bodies Observe g “Genocide Day”

AMRITSAR – Sikh devotees converged at Gurdwara Gurdarsharan Parkash, Chowk Mehta, and headquarters of Sikh’s prominent seminary Damdami Taksal, to observe the 28th anniversary of Operation Bluestar in which Taksal’s 14th chief Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwala was killed along with others.

Present chief of Damdami Taksal and head Sant Samaj Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa informed that they would bestow Sewa Rattan Award upon Baba Malkiat Singh Jabarwalia beside honouring Kamaldeep Kaur, sister of Balwant Singh Rajoana, one of accused in killing of former Chief Minister of Punjab Beant Singh , who is currently on death row.

Prominent among others who were expected to attend the function would be former cabinet minister Captain Balbir Singh Bath, Baba Lakha Singh. Sikh’s single largest representative body Shiromani Gurdwara Parabandhak Committee will also observe the Genocide Day by performing bhog of Akhand Panth in memory of those killed during the Operation Bluestar.

Sikh radical leaders including Simranjit Singh Maan, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Kanwarpal Singh , Dal Khalsa etc. son of Bhinderanwala Ichar Singh and others were expected to attend the function in Golden Temple complex.Senior Vice President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Bhai Manjit Singh informed that a separate function would be held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall situated in Golden Temple complex to pay homage to those killed in the army’s operation.
