State Can’t Afford Another 5 Years Under Akalis, Says Amarinder

FEROZEPUR – Veteran Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh, in an bid to woo people, today promised to grant OBC status to the Kamboj community, besides launching and improvising welfare schemes, if the Congress is voted to power in 2017.

Upbeat over the good turnout at his “Jansamparak rally” held at Guruharsahai, the former CM said the amount under Shagun scheme would be increased from Rs15,000 to Rs50,000 while the old-age, widow and handicapped pension would be enhanced to Rs2000.

Congress leaders, including Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, referred to him as “aon wala mukhmantri” (CM -in-waiting).

Captain accused the ruling SAD-BJP of misgovernance and corruption. Cautioning the people against getting into the “trap of false promises of the Akali Dal”, Capt alleged the Akalis had already ruined the state in the last nine years and the state could not afford another five years of anarchy.

He also warned the people against getting carried away by the “comedy” shows of AAP saying that governance was a serious matter and it could not be left out for “clowns”.

Several sitting and former Congress MLAs, including Joginder Singh Panjgraian, Karan Kaur Brar, Ajaib Singh Bhatti, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Aruna Chaudhary, Hansraj Jossan, Gurpreet Kangar, Darshan Brar and Satkar Kaur were present.
