Tributes Paid To Former “Assassins” Sukha And Jinda

AMRITSAR – Votaries ofSikh separate state Khalistanonce again gathered at GoldenTemple complex on Wednesdayand paid tributes Sukhdev SinghSukha and Harjinder Singh Jinda,assassins of former Armychief General A S Vaidya, on theoccasion of their 21st death anniversary.Shiromani Gurdwara ParbandhakCommittee (SGPC)had organized the function atGurdwara Jhandae Bungae insideGolden Temple complexwhere bogh (concluding ceremony)of Akhand Path (uninterruptedrecital of Sri GuruGranth Sahib) was performed,and family members of both assassinswere presented siropas.Army had conducted OperationBluestar to flush out heavily-armed militants from GoldenTemple and this was done underinstructions of the then Armychief General Arun ShridharVaidya, who was assassinated bySukha and Jinda on August 10,1986, in Pune. Both assassinswere captured and sentenced todeath, and were hanged on October9, 1992.Golden Temple granthi GianiRavel Singh said Sukha andthat Jinda had achieved ‘martyrdom’by fulfilling mission tokill Vaidya who had attacked theGolden Temple. Sikh radical organizationDal Khalsa spokespersonKanwarpal Singh wasalso present on the occasion.
