MELBOURNE – TwoIndian men have been chargedfor allegedly using a chat applicationto blackmail, abductand rape an Australian woman.Ajit Pal Singh, 31, was chargedwith abduction, unlawful confinement,an act of indecencyand three counts of sexual intercoursewithout consent.Co-defendant RandhirSingh, 20, was charged withabduction, two acts of indecencywithout consent, twocounts of sexual intercoursewithout consent and unlawfullydetaining the woman.Now police are warningmobile phone users to takecare with social networkingapplications after the incident,‘The Canberra Times reported.Detective Senior ConstablePeter Maguire told theACT Magistrates Court yesterdaythat the woman accepteda friend request on September25 on Tango chat from a manwho purported to be 24 yearsold through the mobile application.Detective Senior ConstableMaguire said police werestill investigating who wrotethe messages but suspect theybecame sexual in nature afterthe woman agreed to meet theman at Kippax Fair shoppingcentre on September 26.When the woman arrivedat Kippax she saw three Indianmen in a car but did not goto greet them.One of the men, RandhirSingh, allegedly got out ofthe car and approached thewoman inside the shoppingcentre. When she refused togo with him he allegedly toldthe woman he knew she wasmarried and would show themessages to her husband.He is also alleged to havecorrectly identified the highschool her child attended andmade a threat about the child’ssafety and welfare.On the drive from Kippaxto Belconnen she was allegedlysexually assaulted.
