Dear Editor:My name is Amandip Singh Sandher, andI am a regular kid growing up. I was bornin Campbell River on January.27,1997.My goal in life is to become successful, and I’m not sure what I want to be afterhigh school. There are many things in lifethat stops others to be something thatthey want to be simply, because they maybe hanging around with the wrong peopleand doing drugs. When my brotherpassed away on May.2,2013 my life completelychanged. He was 6 feet 3 inchestall, and weighed 350lb. The cause of thedeath was a heart attack, because hissmoking addiction. Many people outthere solve their personal issues by doingstupid things, to be honest drugs willeither get you killed or life sentence tojail. Things like hanging around with yourcousins, and friends are one of the bestways to stay away. Even playing sportswith people will help. I joined “Yo BroInitiative” to learn about self-defense. Ijoined back in grade 9 and now I am ingrade 11, and in grade 12 is my last year. After high school I will try to manage tocome to the programs and stop by to talkwith the boys. I am interested in business, and in the medical field, but haven’tdecided yet. Life is short, and there aremany things to do to make you happy.Kids now don’t think about the longterm effects of drugs and what it can doto you. Young teenagers are selling marijuanato earn big bucks, getting the all thegirls, money, power among others, andrespect. In reality, selling or doing drugswill kill you. This program that I joinedreally helped me become a better person. These guys are like my brothers, togetherwe are a family, and a team.Aman SandherSurrey, BC
