HOUSTON – An Indo-American entrepreneur couplehas donated USD 12 millionto the University of Dallas, thelargest donation in its 57-yearsof history, to fund creation of anew academic building.The donors, Satish andYasmin Gupta, are bothgraduates of the Irvinguniversity’s MBA programme.The new premises, constructionwork for which will commencein 2015, will house the Satish& Yasmin Gupta College ofBusiness.“Right now, the Collegeof Business classes andadministration is all scatteredaround. We are hoping this newstate of the art building will helpbring all of the classes under oneumbrella,” Satish Gupta said.Guptas said the universityhas inspired their lives and theyhope that the new college wouldencourage students.“Our dream is for the Collegeof Business to become a globalmeeting ground for diversityand understanding among allcultures. We hope it empowersstudents to become leaders whogo forth into the world and buildstronger communities,” YasminGupta said.University of Dallas was thefirst destination for the couplewhen they moved from India.In 1979, Satish and Yasminwere neighbours in India whosefamilies were from differentreligious traditions.
