SURREY – Adding to their growing number of Indo-Canadian candidates in various Surrey ridings – the New Democrats have nominated Harry Kooner as their candidate in Surrey-Cloverdale for the 2013 BC Election.

“Harry is going to be a great candidate for Surrey-Cloverdale,” says BC NDP leader Adrian Dix. “He has shown tremendous commitment to his community and with his help we can make changes for the better in his riding and across the province.”

Harry Kooner is passionate about education, community safety and protection of the environment. He volunteers with the Surrey RCMP, community and neighbourhood block watch programs. He works as a bylaw officer with the City of Surrey. He and his wife came to Canada nearly 20 years ago, and have two sons.

“I can’t wait to bring a new and better government to the people of Surrey,” says Kooner. “Adrian and the BCNDP understand the challenges communities face and can offer the change we need.”

Kooner was nominated as the BCNDP candidate at a meeting on February 24th in Surrey.
