Fiji Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, known as “Frank” visited the British Columbia Legislature in Victoria on August 6th and met with New Democrat leader, John Horgan and Surrey MLAs, Sue Hammell and Harry Bains. Bainimarama was on an official visit and attended a number of events hosted by the Fijian community in Surrey. He was also invited to be honorable guest and the keynote speaker at the Surrey Board of Trade special luncheon with Surrey’s business community and will be attending a two day Fijian-Canadian cultural and sports festival in the city. Bainimarama who won the Fiji National elections in September 2014 was accompanied on this visit by his wife, Maria.
