Police Warn That High Risk Sex Offender Narinder Wasan Now Living In Surrey

BC Corrections has issued apublic warning that convictedsex offender Narinder Wasanis now living in Surrey followinghis release from prison.Wasan has been convicted of anumber of crimes includingsex assault, sex assault with aweapon, sexual interferences,assault, failure to comply,uttering threats, breach of trust and driving, property anddrug offences, according to a release sent out by SurreyRCMP on behalf of BC Corrections.

SURREY -A high-risk violentSouth Asian sex offender whohas targeted women and younggirls in the past is now living inSurrey, police said in a warningto the public.Narinder Wasan has been convictedof a number of crimesincluding sex assault, sex assaultwith a weapon, sexual interferences,assault, failure to comply,uttering threats, breach of trustand driving, property and drugoffences, according to a releasesent out by Surrey RCMP onbehalf of BC Corrections,reported CTV News.As a result, the 49-year-oldSouth Asian man is monitoredby authorities and must abide by20 court-ordered conditionsincluding no contact whatsoeverwith women under the age of18.Surrey Mayor Dianne Wattsexpressed anger that Wasanwould move into the city in atweet Friday, writing “This guyneeds to be locked up. Safety ofour residents comes first andforemost. Laws need to bechanged,” with a link to a newsstory about his release.Wasan was arrested in Delta in2005 and charged with sexualassault after he allegedlyapproached two 10-year-old girls in a Burnaby schoolyard,kissing one of them on theneck.He was released from custodyFriday after serving a prisonsentence for sexually assaultinga woman in a Vancouver park.Other conditions he’s subject toinclude not attending any publicpark or swimming area wheregirls under 18 years old areexpected to be, not possessingany weapons, not drinking ordoing drugs and not enteringany liquor store or bar.Wasan is also banned frombeing in contact with any sextrade workers.Anyone who sees him violating theconditions is asked to call local policeor 911.Courtesy CTV News
