South Asian Suspect Sought In Drug-Deal-Gone-Bad Shooting

SURREY — Police are looking for a South Asian man Surrey man accused of car-jacking and shooting another man in a drug-deal-gone-bad shooting in Surrey on Wednesday night. The victim was shot in the chest and his car was stolen.

The 21-year-old victim was waiting in his car, in the 7800-block of 126A Avenue when the other man walked up to his window, shot him with a small-calibre handgun, ordered him out of the car and drove off.

Surrey RCMP Sgt. Drew Grainger said the victim told police it was a drug deal gone bad. “He admitted that to us,” Grainger said.

The victim was treated at hospital and has been released.

The suspect is South Asian, in his early 20s, about five feet 11 inches and 210 pounds. Mounties are still looking for the victim’s car – a yellow four-door Toyota Camry with B.C. plates 217 TSE.

The shooting happened at about 11 p.m. in a residential neighbourhood.
