Teenagers Commit Suicide After Parents Oppose Ties

LUDHIANA – A minor boyand a girl, both classmates,allegedly committed suicide byjumping before a train at Jassianvillage.The boy was a resident ofPritam Nagar while the girl livedin Gopal Nagar in Haibowal.Both were studying in Class X atShanti Devi Senior SecondaryPublic School, Haibowal.Sources said parents of both thevictims were against their ties.The incident took place around4:30 pm. They were hit by theLudhiana-Lohian passengertrain.The sources said after schooltime, the teenage couple headedtowards a railway track nearJassialn village and jumpedbefore the approaching train.The victims’ parents learntabout the incident when theyapproached the police to file amissing report.Suresh Kumar, investigatingofficer, said the bodies weretaken to the Civil Hospital for apost-mortem examination.
