Two Stabbed In US Gurdwara Clashes Over Control

WASHINGTON – Two men havebeen stabbed outside a gurdwara inCalifornia and more than a dozen peoplepepper sprayed in violent clashes thatbroke out between two groups over apower struggle to control the shrine.According to an eyewitness, violenceerupted outside the Tierra Buena gurdwarain Yuba City of California at about6:45 pm (local time) on Saturday whenthe meeting of its board of directorsended and some of the directors wereleaving the parking lot.
No arrest hasbeen made so far, as the incident is currentlybeing investigated, the Suttercounty sheriff ‘s department said.Details of the incident were notavailable as the matter was under investigation.The board members leaving theparking lot were apparently confrontedby a group of men and attacked withshovels, broom handles and sticks, as twogroups of over 30 people clashed witheach other. Later both sides claimed thatthey were attacked by the other group.The ugly event last evening is the latestchapter in the power struggle for thegurdwara. This past September , fiveboard members of the 73-member boardhad sought to force the new election,which was denied by a Sutter countyjudge.
