Burnaby MLA Raj Chouhan Being Honoured For “Relentless Self Service”

BURNABY – Raj Chouhan, the MLA for Burnaby-Edmonds is being honoured with the Cesar Chavez Black Eagle Award for his relentless and selfless service to the farmworkers’ struggle in British Columbia.

The Cesar Chavez Black Eagle Award has been established to recognize extraordinary individuals and organizations for making exceptional contributions to the fight for justice in Canada’s agricultural industry.

“My colleague Raj Chouhan has been a long-time passionate advocate in the struggle for employment equality for farmworkers. I am honoured to say that I have the pleasure of working with such a principled activist,” said Kathy Corrigan, MLA for Burnaby Edmonds.

Chouhan is the recipient of the 2011 Black Eagle Award for his extraordinary service to the aid farmworkers’ struggles in this province. He and other progressive award winners will be honoured at the 12th annual awards dinner and ceremony hosted by UFCW Canada and the Agriculture Workers Alliance on November 2 in Toronto.
