Vigilant Delta citizens lead to arrest of man for the possession of a stolen car

DELTA, BC: On January 3rd, 2024, concerned citizens alerted the Delta Police Department (DPD) about two individuals appearing unconscious with visible drug paraphernalia inside a parked car.
Upon receiving the report, officers were dispatched to the scene, but before their arrival, the occupants regained consciousness and left the area in the vehicle.
Quick action by the officers led to the identification of the car as reported stolen from New Westminster the previous day. The vehicle was subsequently located in a nearby business lot.
Members of DPD’s Patrol Support Team (PST) safely apprehended the two occupants when the car parked in the lot. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Tony Lawrence with no fixed address, now faces charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (s.355(a) CCC) and two counts of Failing to Comply with a Condition of Release (s.145(5) CCC). Lawrence is currently in custody, while the passenger was released without charges.
The PST, known for its agility and expertise in supporting complex patrol-based investigations, played a crucial role in this arrest.
